We want to provide our church family with regular updates as we monitor information related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) and its impact on Richland Creek and our community. (Latest update March 31, 2020 at 1:00 p.m.)
Upcoming Events and Services
In recognition of recent stay-at-home orders by both county and state government officials, Richland Creek will continue to hold all services and church gatherings on our virtual campus platforms throughout the month of April.
The events surrounding the spread of the COVID-19 virus are unprecedented in our lifetimes. We want to respond to these developments with wisdom and caution, as well as with faith and humility. We believe continuing to operate in a virtual environment allows us to stay connected as a church family and also practice love for our neighbors by distancing to slow the spread of the virus.
We deliberated greatly on this point, aware that this means Easter celebrations at Richland Creek will look different than any other time in the history of our church. As we look ahead to some major events in the Easter season, here are a few specific updates:
We will be recording a Good Friday video devotion that will be available beginning at noon on April 10. Plan to watch this video with your family on Good Friday to prepare your hearts for Easter. We will not be having Communion during this season, as our Elder Body believes that Communion is an ordinance best observed by the church gathered physically together. We look forward to having Communion together soon!
As previously announced, the Easter Block Party for 2020 has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.
Easter Sunday services will be held virtually. More details about specific service times will be released soon.
Our baptism service, originally scheduled for April 19, will be postponed until we can gather again in person. But if you are interested in being baptized when we come back together, don’t hesitate to call the church office at (919) 556-9292, and a pastor will call you back.
Our staff and leaders are continually working to provide you with dependable resources to bless your family, encourage your walk with Christ, and strengthen your spiritual and emotional health in this time. Please watch your e-mail inbox, follow our social media platforms, and check richlandcreek.com for those updates as they appear.
In addition, many of our Life Groups are gathering virtually as well, using social media, video conferencing apps and more to stay in touch during these days. If you have questions about those opportunities, reach out to your Life Group leader.
We love you all, and as always, the plans outlined above could change as the situation changes. We’re continually monitoring updates as they come in, and will prayerfully respond.
Keep in mind these important things as well:
As you consider your own personal health and safety, and that of your family, pay attention to reputable sources of information, and don't rely solely on social media for updates. Some good sources include the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Coronavirus page and North Carolina's Department of Health and Human Services's recommendation on community events and group gatherings.
For members of Richland Creek, you can still support our church through regular giving by giving online through this page or texting the word CREEK and any dollar amount to 73256 from any smartphone.
How Can We Pray?
We should remember the words of Paul to Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:7: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." With that spirit, pray along the following lines:
God is sovereign, and in control of everything. As believers, our highest joy is not found in our own personal safety or even health, but in the outworking of His will in all events. To that end, pray that through this outbreak the Gospel will go forward and that men, women and children will be saved.
Pray for wisdom for leaders in government and medicine as they respond to this outbreak. Pray they would put the interests of other before their own, and that they would respond wisely and appropriately.
Pray for medical personnel who will be treating the sick. Pray for their own safety and health as they work selflessly to serve others.
Pray for those who would be considered at high-risk: Seniors, those with pre-existing medical conditions, etc. Pray they would be wise in their precautions and protected from illness.
Pray for Christians all over the world to respond to this situation with faith and not fear, allowing the Holy Spirit to give them the peace that passes all understanding.
We will share updates about future services and gatherings at richlandcreek.com/coronavirus, so please visit the page for the latest information.
