Coronavirus Update

We want to provide our church family with regular updates as we monitor information related to the coronavirus (COVID-19) and its impact on Richland Creek and our community. (Latest update March 18, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.)

Upcoming Events and Services

Richland Creek will not be holding any on-site churchwide activities, including weekend worship services/Life Groups and Wednesday night discipleship opportunities, for the next several weeks as we observe important protocols to try to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. We will be hosting virtual worship services for upcoming Sunday mornings, March 22 and 29, while Wednesday night activities are canceled for March 18, 25 and April 1.

We realize this is an unprecedented move in the life of our church, but we are motivated by love and concern — for those already affected by the outbreak, for those who are at a higher risk of complications from the virus, and for those who are struggling with how to respond well. Please continue to pray that Richland Creek leaders would make decisions with wisdom, caution and love.

You may be asking questions about how the church can continue to be the church — love and serve one another, teach the Bible, worship and pray together — in this challenging season. Your pastors, elders and ministry leaders are asking those questions as well, and we will be providing information soon about how we continue to grow and serve in the midst of coronavirus. We know that this weekend some of you gathered together to watch the sermon, while others did a virtual Life Group by watching some recorded videos. We praise God for the resourcefulness of the body in caring for and loving one another! Please stay tuned as we work to empower the church for the work of ministry!

In the meantime, please note the following as well:

  • For smaller ministry gatherings, individual ministry leaders may choose to go ahead with some of those events. If you have questions, contact your individual ministry leader for more information.

  • We will be having a churchwide virtual prayer meeting on Sunday night, March 29. More details will be coming soon on how that will work, but please make plans to be a part of that.

  • The Easter Block Party, scheduled for Saturday, April 11, has been canceled. As for other Easter weekend events, we’ll make decisions as we get closer to that time and see what the situation is.

We love you all, and as always, the plans outlined above could change as the situation changes. We’re continually monitoring updates as they come in, and will prayerfully respond.

Keep in mind these important things as well:

How Can We Pray?

We should remember the words of Paul to Timothy in 2 Timothy 1:7: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." With that spirit, pray along the following lines:

  • God is sovereign, and in control of everything. As believers, our highest joy is not found in our own personal safety or even health, but in the outworking of His will in all events. To that end, pray that through this outbreak the Gospel will go forward and that men, women and children will be saved.

  • Pray for wisdom for leaders in government and medicine as they respond to this outbreak. Pray they would put the interests of other before their own, and that they would respond wisely and appropriately.

  • Pray for medical personnel who will be treating the sick. Pray for their own safety and health as they work selflessly to serve others.

  • Pray for those who would be considered at high-risk: Seniors, those with pre-existing medical conditions, etc. Pray they would be wise in their precautions and protected from illness.

  • Pray for Christians all over the world to respond to this situation with faith and not fear, allowing the Holy Spirit to give them the peace that passes all understanding.

We will share updates about future services and gatherings at richlandcreek.com/coronavirus, so please visit the page for the latest information.
